 Spilanthes-Acmella oleracea (Asteraceae)

This lesser known herb is used to jumpstart your immune system much like Echinacea, but with more anti-microbial properties. Helps to ward off infections, soothes inflammation and gets the lymph moving. Spilanthes increases salivation- mix with water for less of a tingly sensation. The more it tingles the stronger it is. Don’t worry, your mouth will go back to normal!

Contraindications/Caution: Use caution with auto-immune conditions as it does increase immune system activity. May spike WBC count. Don’t use more than 2-3 weeks at a time. This is in the aster family, so careful for all those folks with an aster allergy.
